ADULT CHOIRS

The First Church adult choirs sing a variety of challenging music ranging from classical to contemporary.  Everyone who enjoys celebrating their faith through music is welcome.  With a few exceptions, auditions are not required to join ensembles.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is the main service choir at First Church.  The 50-voice ensemble is made up of adults, college age on up.  Rehearsals are every Thursday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 13. The choir sings in worship every Sunday from September - June and for special services (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Easter etc.) In addition, the choir presents at least one concert during the year, usually with orchestra.

Summer Choir

If you love to sing, but can't make the scheduled choir rehearsals during the year, then Summer Choir is for you!  Summer Choir sings at the 10:30 am Worship Service from the first Sunday in June through Labor Day. Rehearsals begin at 9:45 am on Sunday mornings in Room 13.  Everyone from high school age on up is welcome to come!

Congratulations!

The Chancel Choir was awarded First Place at Jubilation 2011, the Elizabeth Stuart Church Choir Competition, sponsored by WCLV. Choirs submitted recordings for the competition and out of those, six choirs were selected as semi-finalists. Both the Chancel (adults) and Epworth (youth) Choirs traveled to St. John's Cathedral in Cleveland for the finals under the direction of Dean Wagner. It was the first time that two choirs from the same church had been selected and the Epworth Choir was the first youth choir ever selected for the semi-finals. We are very proud of both our choirs and our outstanding music program!
