Was Judas right about the jar of perfume that Mary broke to pour over Jesus’s feet? If we set aside what John tells us about Judas’s motive, his statement still stands. Wouldn’t the disciples have been able to do much more good for the poor with the proceeds of selling the perfume than simply pouring it out onto Jesus’s feet and Mary’s hair? Wasn’t Mary’s choice wasteful?
