First Church has a long tradition of outstanding church music and training of children, from age four on up, to sing and ring their faith with joy and meaning.

The Chancel Choir (adults) and the Epworth Choir (youth) are the service choirs each Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service. In addition, both choirs perform concerts throughout the year as a part of our church’s Art Series. The Epworth Choir conducts an annual spring concert tour where they travel throughout the United States and Canada as ambassadors for Christ. In the past, our adult Chancel Ringers toured through Germany, while the Chancel Choir, with the Chancel Ringers, toured in England.

First Church has an extensive handbell choir program consisting of two children’s choirs, a youth choir, and an adult choir which play several times a year during the services. The church owns and uses 6 octaves of Schulmerich handbells, and 7 octaves of Malmark Choirchimes. 

In 2011 the Chancel Choir  was awarded First Place at Jubilation 2011, the Elizabeth Stuart Church Choir Competition, sponsored by WCLV. Six choirs were selected as semi-finalists and both the Chancel and Epworth Choirs traveled to St. John’s Cathedral in Cleveland for the finals under the direction of Dean Wagner. It was the first time that two choirs from the same church had been selected and the Epworth Choir was the first youth choir ever selected for the semi-finals.

Our choirs are open to anyone who loves to sing and glorify God!

Bethlehem Choir(age 4-3rd grade) – Rehearsals on Sundays at 4:30 p.m.

Wesley Choir(grades 4-6) – Rehearsals on Sundays at 4:30 p.m.

Epworth Choir(grades 7-12) – Rehearsals on Sundays at 5:45 p.m.

Chancel Choir (adults) – Rehearsals on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Summer Choir is for anyone who likes to sing regardless of age. It is the service choir for the 10:15 a.m. summer worship service. They rehearse at 9:45 a.m.
